BOOKS

That Summer, We Lived on the Beach

That Summer, We Lived on the Beach is based on my experiences when I was drawing from life at Coney Island during the summer of 2020.  It is a companion book to Coney Island During the Pandemic.

Three homeless people meet at the shelter in Brighton Beach.  They are Henry, a wounded war veteran, James, a gay man who is down on his luck, and Lyota, a long-term shelter resident who is mentally unstable.  They form a strong bond and take care of each other.

After suffering the indignities of the shelter, they decide that living on the beach in Coney Island would be better, and they move there.

Lyota, who fancies herself a mermaid, is gifted a beautiful tiara by a woman and her daughter on the boardwalk.  The drama that ensues tests the boundaries of her friendship with Henry and James.

That Summer, We Lived on the Beach is available on Amazon.
